Preparatory
Course for Government Schools
Introduction
Many renowned universities have operations in Singapore, and some, like the world-famous Insead French business school, even have full campuses here. Singapore’s own schools, polytechnics and universities are acquiring international reputations. Primary and secondary schools here are modern and well-equipped, living expenses and school fees are affordable, and standards of teaching and curriculum development are high. The international languages of the future, English and Chinese, are used widely and taught here.
Drawn by its many advantages, international students are entering Singapore’s primary and secondary schools in ever larger numbers. Our preparatory course will help your child bridge the gap between the education systems in your country and Singapore.
Prerequisites
The prerequisites for our preparatory course are the same as those for the public school system at the level you intend to place your child. Your child should be academically prepared to study subjects at this level by his previous educational experience in a different system.

Details
of course schedules and school fees are on our Course

The Preparatory Examination
International students who
wish to enter primary and secondary schools in Singapore are
required to sit and pass entrance examinations conducted by the schools of their choice. The examinations are usually held in October and November, before the beginning of the next academic year.
The entrance examinations are not easy. Even so, more than 90 percent of the students who enrol in our preparatory courses succeed in getting into the schools of their choice.
Our Preparatory Course
Very likely, the biggest difficulty your child will experience in Singapore will be the English Language. Your child will probably be studying English at a higher level than in his or her own country. Also, all other subjects will be taught in English, apart from second language. if he is good at these subjects, simply because he is not used to
studying them in English.
English
We
emphasise English in our preparatory course, both as a subject in
itself and as a medium for learning other subjects. Apart from being
very familiar with the Singapore education system, our teachers
understand the problems international students face in Singapore
schools. They will help your child understand mathematical or
scientific concepts which are expressed in English.
Mathematics
We
teach familiarity with mathematical terms in English, and learning
mathematical concepts in English, rather than mathematical skills. Our
teachers will help your child answer mathematics questions in English,
rather than in his native language.
Science
Many
schools do not test science in their entrance tests. However, it has
been our experience that international students face difficulties
learning science in English. So it is in your child's interest to
become familiar with scientific terms and expressions in English
before he enters a public school.
Assignments
and Assessments
The
entrance examinations are not easy, and your child will have to study
hard to attain the required standard. As a result, there will be more
assignments, including essays, than in our other English courses. In
addition to the assigned homework, your child will have to do a number
of hours of self-study every day.
A
test will be conducted every 4 weeks to allow us to monitor your
child’s progress. In keeping with our policy of involving the
parents and guardians, we will be sending you detailed course reports
after every test. These reports will include the student’s grades in
listening, speaking, reading and writing, as well as an evaluation of
his progress in class
